About the speakers

Jennifer Scanlon, President and CEO
UL LLC

Jennifer F. Scanlon is president and chief executive officer of UL. Jenny’s deep commitment to science, technology, engineering and math shape her approach to advancing UL’s leadership in driving confidence and trust in the next generation of innovation. Prior to UL, Jenny was most recently president and CEO of USG Corporation, where she also served as chief information officer (CIO). She led the company through a major international expansion, digital transformation, and sustainable evolution, enhancing its ability to meet customer needs. Jenny is a fierce advocate for STEM education and the benefits of diversity and inclusion. She sits on the board of Norfolk Southern Corporation and serves as vice chair of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and chair of the Commercial Club of Chicago. She holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame.

Telle Whitney, Former CEO and President
Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology

As the President and CEO of the Anita Borg Institute (ABI), Telle Whitney drove ABI’s mission to increase the representation of women technologists in the global workforce and has led ABI’s substantial growth in size and impact. Previously, Whitney held senior technical management positions with Malleable Technologies and Actel Corporation, and co-founded the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference. She serves on the advisory boards of Caltech’s Information Science and Technology initiative, California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology, and Illuminate Ventures. She also serves on the Board of Directors for CMD-IT. Whitney has received ACM’s Distinguished Service award, the CRA’s A. Nico Habermann Award for her role in founding and sustaining NCWIT, and an honorary degree from Carnegie Mellon University, among other awards. Whitney received her Ph.D. from Caltech, and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah, both in Computer Science.
